As the seasons change, learn how to balance the energies of the season and to support the associated organs. This workshop is based in the Water Method tradition of Taoist Meditation, which traces back to Lao Tsu and the Tao Te Ching. In this tradition, spring is associated with the wood element and the liver. The workshop will teach material on feeling into and activating the liver, which can help bring focus and energy into life as spring nears.

Ishmael Dengate will be teaching the Water Method tradition of Taoist Meditation which traces back to Lao Tsu and the Tao Te Ching. The class will teach a stress-reducing method for stimulating relaxed chi flow without using any force. We'll focus on relaxing to stretch, rather than stretching to relax. You will learn to breathe with your whole body, calming your body and mind. This approach brings a higher level of awareness and presence into daily life. These techniques are meant to be integrated into life so that you are cultivating your practice and mindfulness throughout the day instead of solely during class time.

In the class, we will work on the following skills:

  • Ease in postural alignments while sitting, standing and moving
  • Becoming present with your whole body
  • Whole-body breathing
  • Developing focus and the ability to concentrate
  • Maintaining a meditative state
  • Becoming fully relaxed while deepening focus
  • Releasing negative emotions
